We’d made some changes but the cafe had initially 7yrs before been started by the young people in the school and had recently been decorated by them, so I didn’t want to change too much out of respect for the time they had invested.

The small changes however, had an enormous impact. Reclaimed scaffold shelves, a ‘wrapped’ worktop, and some fresh paint. I chose a local coffee roastery, Big Dog coffee in Ebbw Vale to provide our coffee, and we opened for business. BlueBusBakes now runs alongside the Big Bean, baking from here now rather than our home kitchen.
